UBC’s Faculty of Education is offering a program of courses that would lead to the BC Early Childhood Education (ECE) Assistant and Basic Certificates. Upon completion of the courses in the program, graduates apply to the Early Childhood Education Registry for certifications.

This program focuses broadly on developing ECE curricula and the principles of teaching and learning in the early years (preschool to Grade 3). Designed to enhance, deepen, and enrich the early childhood professional’s knowledge and skill in creating optimal and inclusive early learning environments.

This program is consistent with a global movement that recognizes healthy children and youth are better able to learn and that schools are well suited to be able to influence students’ health.  Given initiatives such as HealthySchools and ActNowBC, this program contributes to the ongoing development of knowledge and skills in the area of Health Education.

This IDSC Certificate aims to provide students with a basic foundation of the knowledge and skills needed to work with young children (birth to 9 years) with special needs and their families especially in the Infant Development Program (IDP) and the Supported Child Development program (SCD).

A teacher librarian plays a crucial role in promoting literacy, supporting curriculum development, and fostering a love for learning within the school community. Beyond managing the library's collection, they collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy skills into lessons, helping students navigate and evaluate a wealth of resources.

The TESL Certificate program is designed for pre- and in-service teachers and those who are interested in teaching local and international students in Canada or overseas. Gain understanding of instructional methodology, curriculum design, second language assessment and more.

Designed to introduce the broad field of adult learning and education to those who anticipate being involved with or who may already be designing, planning, implementing, teaching and evaluating educational and training programs for adults as part of their lifelong learning and professional practice.

This program is designed for teachers of textile studies who want to strengthen their knowledge in the area, or for teachers who want to develop expertise for the teaching of textile studies.The certificate program consists of five courses: three from UBC, and two from Kwantlen.
